New Sindt whistle key: C#

I just wanted to let everyone know that John Sindt has added a C# whistle to his catalog. Our mutual friend Mike Rafferty has a great set of U-pipes from his father that were recently restored, and they play in C#. John Sindt was kind enough to design a C# whistle for Mike so others can join him when he plays the pipes.

As with all his other whistles, the C# is beautifully made and perfectly in tune. Pipers will want one, as this is not an unusual pipe key. Even if your own pipes are not C#, you might want to have one along in case you hit a C# pipe session.

I used to wonder at some of the odd keys – Why on earth would someone want a whistle in E or C#. Well, now I own two E whistles and absolutely love them. (A Burke low-E composite and a Water Weasel high E.) And I’ve been wanting one in C#. Richard Farina tuned his dulcimer a half-tone flat, so it played in C# instead of D. I might just have to get one of JS’s new whistles.
