New Psalt Coming

Hi - I’m new to this site so bear with me. I’ve been playing BP for about 2 1/2 yrs now. I have a 2 oct and a 2 1/2 oct. from SOTW. I also have two 2 1/2 octaves from Master Works. Love all of them. I’m currently having a 2 1/2 octave built by Eric Meier from Phantasy Psaltery. It has wound strings and starts on G below mid C. I’m a little anxious about playing the wound strings. Hope I won’t have trouble making the switch.
Any advice from anyone out there??

I’m wanting to sell one of my Master Works (a Satinwood top and bottom) that’s brand new. It’s a long story how I happened to get it but I don’t need so many Psalts  It has a bright tone and is beautiful. It’s a $349 concert instrument plus case. I’ll take $275 + S&H for it, if anyone’s interested.

I’ve been enjoying reading all the correspondence on this site. I’ve gotten quite a few tips. I’ve got a wide musical background but enjoy the ease and simplicity of the BP. Also LOVE that ethereal sound. I play quite often in church and never fail to get lots of questions about “what is it?”

I’ll let you know when I get my new one. It has an African Mahogony top and Curly Ash back, with Bloodwood edging and bridge.

Sure glad I found this site :stuck_out_tongue:

I doubt you’ll have any real problem making the transition from plain to wound strings. In my experience, the wound strings need a little more rosin built up on them before they play easily, and personally I prefer the small violin bows to the tradition BP bow for them but there’s very little difference in the technique overall. Wound strings can take a little more time to stretch in and stay well in tune, but that’s no big deal.

Good luck with your new Phantasy. My last one was a custom job from Eric, and what a beauty it turned out to be.
