I just received an e-mail from Adam Keelan (guitar) of Positively Testcard telling me that a new PT CD is out. I hope to be getting a copy very soon and will review it here. However, trust me that you will love this stuff! Check out their website for some sound clips. Their previous CD is one of my alltime favorites with terrific performances by all (even the guys who don’t play whistle).
Adam tells me: “At the moment we can only supply internationally with an international money order - although in due course Sterns will handle credit cards. We’re also working on our own means of dealing with credit cards.”
Below is their press release:

Band rate new album “superior to sliced bread”
Sky darkens as music fans’ hats thrown in the air.
“I’d have preferred more drums…and louder” says drummer.
With the nation’s toes expectantly poised for tapping, The Positively Testcard proudly present their new collection of Kwela tunes.
For nearly a decade The Positively Testcard have been tirelessly reviving Kwela –
South African township pennywhistle jive of the 1950’s and 60’s – converting audiences to the way of the whistle wherever they’ve played: at festivals, on the radio here and abroad.
The joyful, upbeat, happy happy grooves are once again to the fore with the release of their third CD, ‘Let’s Do The Kwela!’.
Their take on 50’s South African pennywhistle jive maintains their South London credentials with guest contributions from the Balham township piano of Geraint Watkins, Clapham’s king of conga Mat Fox, and Forest Hill’s Mbaqanga squeeze-box supremo Roland Perrin. Add to that the horns that grace so many Billy Bragg chart toppers and you have in your hands Positively Testcard’s finest release to date - and the upbeatest CD of the year!
