New piper

Hi. another new piper. Having played in an early music quartet in Norfolk
for 14 years I moved to Devon and left the 17th century behind. Then I joined a folk band playing recorder. One of the other members said he would love to hear the pipes in the group. I was a little under volume (treble recorder) so thought I would find out what the pipes were about. I hooked up with Albert Mc Guinness via this site and he lent me a Marc Van-Dal practice set. So far I am up to four notes with what I take to be the usual hisses and squeaks. Still, things are improving. Many thanks to Albert. I have just ordered a practice set from Martin preshaw which will be here by April. A really nice guy to talk to and with a lot of reassuring comments about his work. I enjoy reading the forum and hope to post the odd notice as things progress.

So how old exactly, are you now?

Seriously, welcome to the site and have big fun with your new found musical talents…(squeaks and all  )

Look forward to seeing and hearing your set when they arrive.

The wrong side of fourty going on twenty five. When things like learning the pipes fail to excite me it will be time to screw the lid down. I hope that day is way down the road.

The fun is just beginning. Wait until you wrestle a tune out of the beastie.

I am reinstating this topic, sans flame war, with the hope that Tim’s issues may be addressed.

Nice to meet you Tim H. I’ll be getting my practice set in the spring as well. Sounds like you’re making good progress already. Congrats on your four notes.

JES, is your notice on the right thread? I don’t see any big issues here  .

They have been deleted…

Thanks for that Jes. and thanks for the comments from others.
Tim

Oh dear. I guess I missed that one. Sorry to be questioning your sanity!
