New (or not) Maker -- "Mack"?

I forget about the Used Instrument Exchange … hardly ever remember it is even there. Early last week someone just happened to post about it. In checking it out, I noticed an unusual whistle offered … a Mack D. A new maker? Cool!

Nope … a very familiar maker – Mack Hoover. The post was for a narrow brass D by “Mack”, plus a Whitney D and a Sweetheart flute. (Anyone looking for a flute might want to check the listing, but the Hoover and the Whitney are mine!) I had never played a Whitney, which is a very nice whistle. The Hoover is great … one of his signature, quiet ones with a sweet tone. I contacted Mack about the whistle and found he has a lifetime guarantee, bought new or used. The whistle gets a free check-up – what a deal! This just made what I considered a delightful find even better!

Thank You to tradfiddle for selling these whistles. Thank You to Mack for … well, for just being Mack, a fine gentleman whistle maker of the first order.

Truly! It is impossible to imagine that he could possibly have an enemy - and if he does, its through no deed or fault of his own.

I’m one of those fortunate enough to own one like you bought and it has pulled me through a couple of tough spots where if I hadn’t had that little whisperer I’d not have been able to play at all.

Well said, Chuck.

BTW, I’m glad to see you posting again. I enjoyed your posts in my newbie stage … and do still.

Thanks

It took a while but I started to really miss C&F, too. My own fault, really - I got up in that crazy post count chase and both the quality and enjoyment collapsed.

Now that I’m back, hopefully I’ve learned a lesson or two.
