I just don’t get it. What am I missing?
Probably nothing.
Looks to me like they’ve configured the commercial to get people’s attention (I think it’s a great commercial, btw). As subsequent commercials in the ad campaign roll out, we’ll find out what they’re trying to convey.
Best wishes,
Jerry
kinda like burma shave…
I am a Mac, they are PCs ![]()
let’s not get all functional here Claudine!
Like the tv show, it’s a commercial about nothing. It’s as unfunny as Jerry Seinfeld.

For a minute there I actually thought it was a Mac commercial and the point was that Bill Gates (microsoft) shops for shoes (at Shoe Circus, where they sell you something that doesn’t really fit) the way people buy PCs. i.e…fancy, hifalutin’ name (Conquistador,) that doesn’t really do much.
But that didn’t make sense, since Gates was in the ad. And it’s a Microsoft ad.
When I saw this commercial I was perplexed, trying to figure out how Shoe Circus got Seinfeld and Bill Gates to be in their ad.
I was perplexed as well. I turned it off before finding out it was a commercial.
The new Mac ad with the pizza box is the best ever, btw.
Wow, so they do mention computers in passing at the end. I think Microsoft
is coming out with Windows-embedded churros. The blue screen of death
has never been so death-y (it literally kills you). But you can totally do
PowerPoint while you eat them, so there’s that.
Bonus Spanish lesson: In Spanish, “blue screen of death” appears to be
“pantalla azul de la muerte” which sounds way cooler.
The commercial is as stilted and stiff as the computer experience itself. Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating, but the quality of the acting was really bad and so was the script.
I can just hear Jerry Seinfeld saying, “And what’s the deal with ReadyBoost?
Is my flash drive memory, or is it storage? Who knows?”
There’s a new installment of the ads:
It’s much funnier (not hard), but manages to make
Gates and Jerry look even more out of touch…
Maybe Seinfeld should have stayed in Grenyarnia.
Amazing.
Best wishes,
Jerry
My all time favorite is “Better results” (from 2006) where Mac and PC compare their home movies ![]()
