new here

Hello everyone!

Im new here and Id like to ask you for help. I used to play flute (soprano recorder, alto flute), spent 8 years in music school like a kid… and now after 10 years break (I forgot so much) Im starting again. Id like to ask ya if you dont know about any web pages with some interesting sheet music for soprano recorder - irish music would be the best. Im interested in tin whistle but also shakuhachi and chinese music - is it hard to play those flutes and do you think I can learn it myself and find some sheet music for it on internet? thanks

Of course, this site has much helpful information worth your study.

Another popular site for Irish tunes is:
www.thesession.org

Also, as a reformed C recorder player now playing whistle, let me suggest - if you want to play Irish music - get a whistle. While you can play it on recorder, it’s more difficult to play up to speed and with proper ornamentation. Note that a D whistle is the most common and is the closest equivalent to a C recorder (more or less same range and many of the same fingerings).

Further questions about whistle’s are probably more appropriate on the whistle forum.

Rick.
