I am happy to announce that my popular Folk Flute model is now available in all 3 of the woods that I use for flute making: European Boxwood, Mopane, and African Blackwood. These will all be in the 3 piece version split between the hands, currently featured on the Folk Flute website. The two piece version is no longer made.
I finally have sufficient quantities of all three woods in ready shape to use. Of all the flutes I make - I enjoy making these the most. Much more so than the keyed flutes, etc.
I will have pictures of these in all 3 woods come fall after the batch that I start in September (am currently in my summer “layover” period recovering from Lark Camp while getting my daughter bundled up for college). Current pending clients might want to consider changing their wood choice - you have until September 8th and I will likely send an additional announcement.
Wow, great news Casey! I predict you are going to be a busy guy! Good luck with the new Folk Flute woods venture-no doubt you will please many a flute player for years to come with these new offerings! Way to go!
Choice is a good thing, but I have no idea what the different woods bring to the game. I know Mr. Burns makes great flutes, but I am out of my depth when it comes to the qualities that the different materials posess. Is it possible to describe what the benefits / trade-offs might be from one wood to another? Bit of a newbie question, but perhaps someone would care to venture some opinions?
