just arrived, after a 6 month wait, which of course was worth it.
any hints on getting the most out of playing it? what i can tell so far:
piper’s grip essential (not a problem for me, i play a low D)
you have to be insistant on the second octave d.
what i am looking for is any technique tricks, either hand or air support, that anyone has noted.

its a really great instrument thats for sure! the advice i would provide
is fairly simple. practice scales over and over. people tend to jump
right into the meat of the music. 1- if you really want to understand your
instrument you must practice scales to get a real feel for the type of whistle you have! they are all very different and at times have a personality all there own! some overton’s have lots of back-pressure while others tend to play fairly easy! all great ofcourse! regardless of which one you have,practice lots of scales. its great for warming-up as well! this helps with the breathing aspect also.pls do not concentate so much on technique.this is a natural and rather progressive thing. the important thing in my own opinion, is concentrating on the tune at its"rawest"level at first. add the ornaments later! the’re so many to chose from as we all know. this brings me to #2. one of the best ways to
learn technique is to listen to lots of music! as davy spillane once told
me,“once you understand whats happening in the tune, attempt to play
with your body not with your fingers! close your eyes and listen to what
you hear. its an amazing thing to close your eyes to the outside world
and just play!” hope this advice helps a little. again, listening helps. give
