Was given a Delrin C from a new whistle maker … and it beats anything I own. Am/was a Syn C fanatic but there is a very good chance that I will Syn no more.

New Whistle’ Maker!

I have a C and several Ds by this maker, who prefers to remain anonymous but turns out whistles that are as good as any on the market. In fact, last year at Tony Higgins’ party, Limuhead played my Sindt, gave it back saying “Nice whistle.” Then he played my Humphrey, handed it back saying “Nice.” Then I handed him the clear plastic whistle in the key of D, which looked like a toy. He looked at it skeptically, then began playing it. And he played, and played, and played, faster and more intricate tunes as he went. Finally when I thought I’d have to fight him to get it back, he stopped, examined it closely and then handed it back saying “Man, that is one fine whistle!”
CLEAR Delrin? Heck with the whistle… where can I buy the plastic! 
Sorry, Paul. The clear plastic was before the maker began experimenting with Delrin, which is used in the new C.
shh..i have a frosted acrylic D..it’s an incredibly nice whistle.

I just got me a clear polycarbonate whistle on eBay, but I haven’t received it yet.
Oh …now I find out that they were given to more than me … so much for feeling special
This whistle has the characteristics of a “Low” whistle. It has a big whistle sound … rich clear tones … and the ability to add “soul” to the sound. And… you find it all in a whistle that is a normal C size … and to me that is an amazing feat … for any whistle maker.
And, my wife sees the package and says …“oh no … here we go again … and walks out of the room. I start to play and she comes back and says " wow … that has a beautiful sound” . Now … if she only would only say that about my playing!!! :roll:

I have one of these, also (older clear model) and agree - though mine looks very toy-like, it’s a darn good whistle.
When/if the maker decides to offer these commercially, I’d heartily recommend them. Not sure that it’s a better whistle than some of the other handmade whistles I’ve tried, but it certainly holds its own in their august company.
I agree that the appearance isn’t as slick as some of the whistles that I own/owned … but if I had to play a tree trunk to get the sound I wanted .. would be ok .. a mite heavy but ok. This isn’t a tree trunk and I actually like the looks of mine .. maybe it is a different style.
Also … what is best for me might be different for you .. but you know that … is what keeps the different makers in business.
I plan on keeping this one … it works for me … playing it a lot every day and finding out what makes it tick..

I just got one of those in the mail today, David. Interesting material, but way too much ‘chiff’ for my taste. You make a much nicer whistle.
