New - and hungary to learn

Wow - I love this site - and you even get to feed people for free- amazing!

I’m new to the site and to whistling (about a month since I bought my Generation D). I’ve been learning a couple of tunes - falderal - rolling in the ryegrass - down by the sally garden - and suddenly got to wondering, are any of the tunes on the web sites kind of strictly cultural and therefore out of bounds for an Englishman to play in public at least (I have high hopes). This is probably a stupid question - but then most of mine are

I look forward to reading all your links on these boards

Phil

Welcome, Phil.

If you’re actually from Liverpool that confers honorary Irishness on you by virtue of a presumption of either genetic or environmental contamination.

Play what you like, we’re so open-minded that we even share the music with people who voted for Bush (it’s a bit like an update of the way we used to pray for the conversion of godless Russia all those years ago).

Welcome Phil,

I’ve always heard that Liverpool is the unofficial capitol of Ireland…failing that, it’s the home of the Beatles, which counts for something in my book.

Seriously, It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are from, if you love and wish to play the music, go for it!

This has happened twice to me. When I tell people I play irish flute they say “but you’re Asian.” So?

…and they are morons.

Liverpool (England, of course). Hmm… Glad you specified that, I would have thought Liverpool, Texas which is only about an hour away from me… welcome aboard mate!
