I am a stage magician and I wan to use Irish/Gaelic/Celtic music for one of my acts. I like Irish Music and have gone to celtic fests. I heard one song that caught my fancy I can not spell the words well but I will have a go at it. Any others you guys have I would love to hear.
It goes in the chrous Dullamon Dulla Me Dullamon Guerra
I believe the YouTube track you linked is called “Celtic Fire”. Not sure what, if any, CD you might find it on.
As for the Irish song you heard at a Celtic Festival, do you know the name of the band that performed it? I would say that 4 out of 5 local Irish/Celtic bands that perform at my fairs out here in CA have CDs available for purchase, so I would go that route…
Yeah I read the translations. I am willing to bet something was lost in translations.
I am looking for some background music for a routine that I am working on right now. As I said I am a stage magician. I need something that sounds like it might be from a shamanistic ritual. If you guys can think of anything else I would love to hear it. I love the sounds of Celtic Music but I really don’t get to listen to it much up here in New York.
In the city? If you can’t find Irish music in NYC, you’re not trying very hard.
Look up NY bands like The Prodigals, or find a session.
You might want to look into Loreena McKennitt for that. In particular, the CD The Mask and the Mirror has some nice songs with no distinct lyrics which
sound rather like a Pagan invocation. Kate Price also has a similar sound.
When I think “shamanistic ritual”, I think percussion. And for that you can’t
get any better than Albannach, which is made up of 5 tribal drummers and
exactly one piper. Sometimes at concerts they have to mic the piper to hear
him over the drums (which is insanity).
It’s about two families, each of which makes its living harvesting one of two different types of seaweed, and how the son of one family is courting the daughter of the other.
That is great the Afro Celtic System has some awesome stuff, you all got anything else? This is great keep it coming.
I don’t live in New York City I am right out side of the Capitial, Albany in the upstate portion of the State. There is nothing but rednecks and wanna be gangsters up here thus we have country and rap and that is about it.
Hey, paradox. I don’t know if you’re still checking this thread, but in Albany
there is a wondering “Fiddler’s Tour” session. It changes venues frequently,
but if you check the website, you can find out where to listen to some ITM
that week.
