Well, at least my topic is still MUSIC-related…I know there’s some fiddlers on C&F, and I’m looking for some good violin sites. I just got my violin (finally–all restored) yesterday and I will be starting with some lessons soon.
However, I thought that getting a head start could help. I am a REAL newbie. Like, I don’t even know how to rosin the bow (but I do know that I should). I have a Mel Bay primer but it’s mostly exercies. I can read music and am familiar with the guitar.
I’ve done a Google Search but haven’t found anything–might be typing in poor search words. Help!
Be sure you’re looking for a fiddle site, not a violin site. There is a structural difference I was told; the bridge is flatter on a fiddle so you can easily bow two strings at once. The bridge on a violin is more arched so classical musicians don’t have to worry about bowing two strings unless they try.
