Hi all,
I keep hearing this tune which is played as incidental background music on my local public radio station. I was wondering if anyone could I.D. it? I don’t know if it’s trad or modern, or even irish, but it definitely has that flavor. It’s a fiddle recording. This is how I would play it on a D whistle. But the original may be in a different key. I have a sort of malleable sense of key. :smiley: Anyway, here it is:

My father was an English teacher and I was an Honors English student at Saint Flannens College Ennis Co. Clare and it shows ,Ain’t not? I spent most of Algebra class drawing in the margins of the book.

But actually, I guess we should stick to it’s real (reel? - oh yeah, it’s a slip jig, sorry) name. “A Fig for a Kiss” is a great tune.

I find it one of the easiest ‘Slips’. They generally tend to give me a headache.

Also, try playing it slow and ‘hauntingly’ on a Low whistle, a suggestion I got from Tygress awhile back when I asked about haunting tunes for Halloween.
