I have an inexpensive whistle, brass with a green fipple (bevel edged), with a label that simply says D Tin Whistle Irish Made in a black oval, with red dingbats above and below.
Does anyone know what breed it is?
Many thanks,

Sounds like a Walton Mello D to me
Heya,
Maybe an older Waltons, but the newer ones and the mellows are clearly labelled “Waltons”. My guess is maybe a Clare or maybe a souvenier. Any idea where you got it from?
My son has the same kind of whistle you’re talking about. We got it a few years ago at Lark In The Morning. My guess is that it is what we now know as a Walton’s Mellow D. It plays very well and has a nice sound.
My guess would be a Soodlum’s.
Here’s a photo from Lark in the Morning:

It does look like the pic, but I can’t see the dingbats clearly. Anyone have a pic of the Walton to compare?
I have no recollection of getting this whistle, as it was my first, and most likely purchased during one of those “I gotta get a new instrument” frenzies, where it was either buy something small and inexpensive or I’d do something silly like get a new dulcimer just to have an instrument to play.
