I vaguely remember this tune from a “love-dovey nature scene” video flick thingy from childhood memory on the TV and I swear the title said “Hymne” but I don’t remember any details or info below the title, and it seems noone I play it for remembers it.
Is “Hymne” in fact the title of this tune? If so, who is it by? Is this an imaginary tune I just made up from a collection of tunes echoing on my mind? Am I just a crazy loon? Or has that ever even been a debate anyway? Thanks!
Keep the laughter to a minimum… I just belted it out real quick and I am in jigs an reels mode headed out the door to get set up for the hoolie tonight. I should have the mouthpiece setup a bit chiffier for slow aires too, so it’s a bit ‘whiny’ … deal.

Now I am finally at peace. At least I remembered it mostly correct. The harp piece she played was subsantially different at places, but the heart of the song was obviously there, so indeed my quest has reached it’s end.

At last! After long (long!) months of lurking, a question I can add something to.
The tune “Hymne” is on the 1990 Vangelis album “Opera Sauvage”. You’ll also find it on the compilation album “Themes”, and others I’m sure. It’s a beautiful tune, but I’d never thought of trying it on a whistle. Great job you did with it.
Well I appreciate the compliment, although I will hopefully have the time to make a much more serious attempt at it in the near future! a rather rushed attempt!
Thanks much for the added info… I looked around in some local music stores for it since I saw your post, and I did find the “Themes” compilation on CD!! (Couldn’t find the Opera Sauvage though) Very cool! Thanks again, and I will now learn it correctly, and I will probably keep a little bit of my inadvertant “mis-memory” in there just for fun.
