Does anyone know the name of that first jig - which I absolutely love! That man sure can write some killer tunes!
The uploader writes: “The first tune was written by Brian, called Marcus Lupe (I believe)” - but I can’t find any info on “Marcus Lupe”, so maybe he’s mistaken?!
Well, if the tune was written by Brian, it is very unlikely that you’ll find dots or anything else about it. And since he gave the name to the tune, Marcus Lupe may be some guy he knows which is not famous. If you want to play that tune in your local session, you could refer to it as Brian Finnegan’s…
Marcos Llope is the flute player of the Spanish band from Asturias called “Llan de Cubel”, a great great great great great band. A must to listen.
Regards,
S.
I tried listening off the tune and transposing it to D. It’s not my strong side, so if anyone could double check the dots, I would be grateful. Then I will submit it to thesession.org for others to enjoy…
My ABC-bid:

S: Brian Finnegan

Marcos Llope is also a great flute maker, but as Brian told us, doesn’t make many flutes because he’s a bit of a perfectionist with his work and the slightest little bit that’s off he’ll just scrap it and not work for another 6 months
But Marcos made the Eb flute that Brian plays this tune on, and it’s a truly amazing instrument I got to play for a couple of minutes… Really killer tune too, for sure.
Also got Brian to play it for me after a little one-on-one moment at Burwell. It’s not public though, since he didn’t seem to like his playing in it, although I must disagree of course
