Name that bass line!

Kevin started lessons on the bass guitar this spring. He’s picking out songs he’d like to work on, and I’m writing the bass lines out (very laboriously, with the help of Finale).

See if you can guess what these are from!

You are brutal. These are going to drive me crazy for the rest of the day. :boggle:

Good man!!!

There ya go Carol! He’s on it!

OK, I got #2. The band is FM, and the song is TC.

#1, there’s a weird sax solo over part of that line. It’s on the tip of my … Aaarrrggghhh!

Here’s a hint for #1

#1 - Yay, I got it! The band is ST, and the song is TLS.

Spock led me on a wild Steely Dan goose chase for a while. Bad Spock, bad!

I don’t think I recognize #3 anyway, so now I can sleep tonight. Whew …

That was fun! In a tear-your-own-flesh-off sort of way.

Ouch!!! :astonished:

PS. Now that the kid is taking bass lessons, I’m always in search of more songs w/ cool bass lines. Suggestions welcome. …Maybe I should start another thread?

Totally not cheating (didn’t see who else replied or what they said):
(Highlight to read)

1: Supertramp - The Logical Song
2: Fleetwood Mac - The Chain
3: ???

I highly recommend “Standing in the Shadows of Motown: The Life and Times of Legendary Bassist James Jamerson.” Interesting reading and chock full of information on how to construct bass lines.
