What is the name of the trad tune that Andy M Stewart put the words to - “Take her in your arms and tell her that you love her, take her in your arms and hold that woman tight…” I’ve always meant to learn it when I hear it on recordings, then promptly forget!

They are indeed quite similar, but it could be the other way around: Junior Crehan (credited with composing The Otter’s Holt) composed a number of dance tunes that were based on airs. For example, his jig The Mist-Covered Mountain is based on the Scots air, The Mist-Covered Mountains of Home, and his jig The Sheep on the Boat is based on the Irish air Anach Cuain.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the tune that Andy Stewart is singing is an older Scots melody that Junior Crehan borrowed for the Otter’s Holt, but I dunno the name of it.

In the liner notes to Dublin Lady, Stewart says “the melody is based on an old reel.”

Ah hah! In that case Jimmy M had it right, and it is indeed The Otter’s Holt. Whether it was composed by Junior Crehan is another matter…the McNamara Family from Leitrim recorded that reel by another name on their “Leitrim’s Hidden Treasure” CD and claimed it as a Leitrim tune. There’s a lot of debate (even within the Crehan family) about which tunes Junior actually composed.
