I don’t know if this topic has had a recent post but I know of a few flutes that have been mislayed recently but not retrieved.
It is good practice to put your name phone number and address into your flute case, maybe with a sticker or some such. I even go to the extent of putting a swirl of paper curled into the space between the button and headcork with this information. Lots of instruments get lost, I imagine that if the instruments owner can be identified there is a chance that they could be returned.
I suppose that this post could go onto any of the instrument pages.
They also make handy ad-hoc business cards for when someone wants your contact info. Just be sure to make a new one to replace the one you give away.
I like the paper in the crown idea. Maybe we should start a flute microchipping business. It would help if more makers would number their instruments …
Note that Patrick offered a reward for its safe return, and he did get his flute back. If your flute is misplaced due to THEFT, it might take some incentive to get it back.
