I seem to recall BBQ in Myrtle Beach that had a non tomato based sauce; kinda thin, vinegar-y and spicy at the same time. Someone told me it ws local to the low-counties or some such thing. Go check Middelton Place if you get near Charleston.
Bring some BBQ sauce back!!

Well, I used to live there many years ago. Hope to go back in Aug. but for only a few days. See my buddy at the Ghosts and Legends Show at Barefoot Landing. I did the voice of Blackbeard.
As for BBQ, spicy vinegary is NC not SC. Sc BBQ sauce is mustard based. I think bautista was referring to Low Country. This is a region and cuisine of southernmost SC and Georgia, Georgetown, Savannah, etc. Great food, sort of a mixture of seafood, cajun, Caribbean, black soul food, etc.
In myrtle, have seafood, there is an abundance of it. Stay up N. Myrtle Beach is you can, quieter, nicer hotels, better prices.

ITS BBQ we have to be surly 
It was actually in Charleston SC or right out of Charleston (monks corner-25+ years dims the memories or some such thing) that I had BBQ. Really good stuff as I recall.
What a great place! Back now to the daily grunt. Great fun though in Myrtle Beach and was also in Boone, NC. Beautiful up there in the Apalacian Mountain’s! Played some tunes on the front porch of the mountain cabin we were staying in. Had great Q there at a place called Bandana’s… a chain sorta feel but still very good stuff. Their best sauce was vinegar based. In SC I didn’t have a chance to have any Q

The sand was so soft and ocean so warm… I’ll be back.. might bring a body guard though
