My whistle began to play by itself - help identifying a tune

Hope I’m not stepping on some big no-no’s in the forum; recently I’ve recorded some tune i’ve kinda found while improvising and playing around - I wonder where this tune poped in my head from and I was hoping you could help me out - maybe some resemblence…

and if nothing comes out, I’ll have to find a name for this one

thanks alot for the help,
Philip

I might’ve posted in the wrong forum
This could go into the ITM forum even…

sorry folks

You may want to submit this to the Clips & Snips forum and it’s extention the tinwhistletunes archive

I think he wants help identifying it . . .

That’s exactly what I want lambchop
but even though I’ll post the mp3 on the archive I guess… thx peter.

Oops, probably got the wrong end of the stick there.

I’ve been noodling around and have come up with beautiful random songs, myself. I don’t record myself, though. so when the song is done, it’s gone. Kind of poetic when you think about it, in a Buddhist sorta’ way. Imperminance and all.

Black Mage,
I know what you mean - it happens to me too… But it’s the lazy part in me that doesn’t record and just enjoys the improvisation for a few rounds.

This is the time when I’m above laziness…

Anyone found a resemblence to any other hornpipes though?

Maybe change the topic title to more reflect the information you need. You may also want to cross post into the pub. Sometimes there is more activity there.

Whatever its name turns out to be, it’s a dandy!

I like it! Give it a name and put it on Chips and Snips. If someone comes along as says, "Oh, that’s ‘Cow Chips Under the Barley’ just tell them you learned it as ‘Sacks of Potatoes’ and let it go at that.

Hi Philip ,

That’s some damn nice playing there man! The tune sounds somehow familliar - If it turns out to be original you should transcribe it and give it a name!

As a new poster, you are certainly not a new player - How long you been playing?

Also that recoding is spot-on. Not a speck of noise and good natural levels - was it recorded in an echoy space or is that reverb added? Either way - damn nice.

Thanks for the post! I, for one, hope to hear more of you soon!

Thanks for the warm words Mitch

I’ve been playing for almost 3 years - though I think I’m still better on the low whistle which I bought 2 years ago…
About the recording, I am a homestudio sound engineer so things are kinda easier on the technical side of’em.
The reverb was added.

I’m gald you enjoyed - I’ve allready developed more ornaments
cheers,
Philip

Yes, please post this to “Clips and Snips” - it’s very nice.

In the meantime, I’m downloading it for my own twisted purposes! :smiling_imp:

Me too… I’ve saved it as theNonameDandy. Nona Me Dandy… hmmmm

What twisted purposes can you possibly have with that innocent little tune? At least you’ve listened to it though hehe

My whistle began to play by itself …

Are you sure it’s not the theme from “Ghostbusters, the remake”?

So I guess this doesn’t ring the big bell to anybody…
Should I name it? or maybe ‘we’ name it?

I’ll go with “Phil’s Leather Slippers”…

Hey, go for it! You can claim that you were just as ignorant as everybody else if you turn out to be wrong.
