My Two favorite Whistle CD's (By Accordion Players)

I know Dale has mentioned former Solas member John Williams latest Solo CD “Steam” for its awesome whistle playing. I finally picked it up and its a great CD. The other great CD with some stellar Low Whistle on it is Leo McCann’s debut CD. Check out a track from it @ http://www.shoogle.com/mp3/other/Leo_McCann_-_If_Anyone_Can_-_Track__3.mp3

Though both are predominantly Box players both feature at least 3 tracks with awesome whistle playing.

I can also recommend If Anyone Can by Leo McCann. Leo is a great guy! I met him in New York when he came down to play a few sessions. Many of the tunes on the CD are his own compositions and they really rock! In case your wondering, he tells me he used a Low A whistle on the CD. I know he played a Sindt D at the sessions when he put down his box, but I don’t know what the Low A is. I think we’ll hear a lot more about Leo in the future.

One of the videos on the kerrywhistles site is (I think) of Sharon Shannon plalying whistle. …also mainly an accordion (and fiddle) player.

I’ve been playing whistle for about three years now, and recently (past 8 months or so) have started working on playing the button accordion.

I just heard from Leo that he uses a low F, not A, on “If Anyone Can”. Check Leo’s CD out when you get a chance! (And no, he is not paying me… )
