When ever my tone is bad or I’ve just picked up the flute, I play the first bar or two the Galway Rambler to staighten everything out. It’s very simple. So far it has worked with the people I’ve shared it with so I thought I’d share it with you. Just play GdGeGdG for about 30 seconds to a minute and it speeds up the warming up process. My goal is to get a strong and clear low G and overblow the low D’s and E’s so the harmonics between octaves gets mixed up to get that growl effect. It sounds really simple and it is. Just try it out when your cold and see if it works. So far it has improved my tone greatly.
