My new project...

No, it’s not a whistle project…
I’m getting one of these for my birthday:

I’ve wanted a Les Paul for about 35 years, so now I’ll build one. OK, it’s a copy but for as often as I want to noodle on an electric guitar, it’ll do. Nice custom paint job… :stuck_out_tongue:

Cool, man  !
I’ve been trying my hand at guitar building for a while. I’m not terribly great, but I have built an SG special kit recently.
I have been having delusions of building a mandolin…

You just need a screwdriver and some time.

Riiiiight. I have heard that before.

Good luck! I’m sure you will do a lovely job.

There are some fair to excellent mandolin kits out there, both A and F style

Yay! Happy Birthday!

Thanks Cran-- it’s actually not until the end of June but I ordered my wife a Russell Sage College class ring for her birthday which also isn’t until June. She said since she’s getting her prezzie early, I could get mine early too!

Rock on, Paul! Nobody touch Paul’s Les Paul or else

… for me the problem is too much time and not enough screwdrivers… whoops, did I say that out loud?

Have fun with your kit paul, but do a little strength training prior to playing it, Les Paul (style) guitars are like strapping on an anvil with strings.

Cool. If I played guitar I’d be envious.

Now you tell me I didn’t have to buy that Les Paul; I just needed to buy a kit. :moreevil:

Seriously, I can barely assemble a bookshelf without assistance. Yeah, I know, it would help if I threw away the directions. I hope these Les Paul instructions aren’t in translation.

Yeah, I saw some on Stew-Mac but I think I might try a full on scratch job; my father ownes a carpentry business and has done similar things, so he can guide me where my own wood knowledge lacks.
