My New (old) G Jones 30 key concertina

Hi,
I bought yet another concertina, now it is one English to two Anglos.
I wanted one that I could copy, in case I wanted to make one from scratch.
The concertina was made in 1890’s serial #21998. It is in C/G. The reeds are steel and it has the patented Jones wide reed.
Here are some photos:

It will need a little work, but has a good strong tone, should be a great player.
Cheers,
Jon

Me too!..me too!..it is now 3 MacCann/Mccanns…2 Lachenal, 1 Wheatstone 46’s

Hey, what kind of a crazy competition is going on here then?

At the moment I’ve got 2 Anglo & 2 English: 1 Jeffries, 2 Wheatstone & 1 Lachenal.

However, that’s all about to change & pretty soon I’ll only have 2 Wheatstone & 1 Lachenal, but they will all be very different instruments i.e. a Tenor/Treble, a Baritone & an Anglo G/D.

I do believe a musician can have too many instruments.
He, or she, I believe, needs to be able to put his, or her, hand on his, or her, heart & say he, or she, does actually play them all on a regular basis.

If not, a little pruning is surely required … for honours sake!

Cheers
Dick

Well this isn’t including the 20 antique wooden flutes, but that is another forum…
For me, it is also about the restoration of the poor thing, then eventualy finding a good home for the little guy.
I still need a Jefferies for reference, so I can copy it, I was told not to use a Jones as a template for a new one. I like the Jones, but I am not playing lightening fast jigs on it yet.
A baritone would be fun…
Cheers,
Jon
