Wow!!! I have two new whistles, an Elfsong low D and an Elfsong Sassy Brass high D. With delrin fipple plugs! I think I will have to do hand exercises to play the low D my fingers are so used to the high D’s. I have been using,“The pipers Fingering” and that is working, but all I can play on it is “Hot Cross Buns” but then I have only had it for about 22 hours. Boy! do my fingers ache? Oh and my whistle is engraved #1 low D!! The low D has a beautiful magestic sound that I can’t describe and the Sassy Brass high D has replaced the Elfsong Copper tone high D in order of favourites.
You can see my low D at -:

I’m on cloud 18!!!
Yep, it’s a beaut. Your fingers will forgive you eventually, but you’re right…it’s so different from a soprano whistle. Takes a lot longer to feel competent.
I’m hoping to order an Elfsong C/D combo soon and have been wondering about whether to get a brass or copper mouthpiece. Can you tell me why you prefer the brass over the copper?

I think it is a matter of personal preference re tone. Or it may be the delrin fipple plug, the copper one has an oak plug. Or a combination of both. I really like the pure tone of the brass and it is so easy to play and change octaves. I just picked it up and played it without have to “Get used” to it. I still like the copper one it’s just dropped to #2 favourite. Oh and I like the shiny new look of the brass one.
