I sent a box of whistles to a family friend who’s doctoring in Iraq. Today his wife came by with this picture:

If you know how I might get more of these whistles to soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan who might enjoy having them or giving them away, please tell me.
Best wishes,
Jerry
Send your useless whistles to Iraq…Seriously
I see you already are aware of this thread.
I think that thread should be renamed, “The useless ‘Send your whistles to Iraq’ thread.”
Best wishes,
Jerry
I got a note in the mail today:
“Thank you very much for the penny whistles you sent us. Many Marines miss their instruments they had to leave home and these will give them an outlet for their musical skills. I look forward to walking around our camp now listening to penny whistles everywhere. Thanks a lot.”
That was nice to read, but I’m trying to imagine what it would sound like. These are key of C whistles, so they may not be quite as shrill as D whistles.
Best wishes,
Jerry
Good call on the C whistles! It should also make the patrol dogs in the area happier too! My dad was a dog handler in the Air Force, and apparently his dog was not a big fan of my older brother in his infancy…
I look forward to walking around our camp now listening to penny whistles everywhere. Thanks a lot."
That can be read two ways.
I mean if it were my wife or my kids saying it…
