Came without a case, so I need one for it. I’m thinking of something like a roll-bag.
Any suggestion of something suitable for this kind of flute? Available online preferably.
I think that my flute case is a bit longer and also larger than this one and if I rembember I needed it because the Bb flute diameter is bigger. 40cm long is enough with the model on your link but the flute won’t fit in because of the diameter.
You should ask FEL : http://www.france-europe-lutherie.com/contact/ . I bought my flute case at this workshop in Brittany : http://www.diato.org/contacte.htm , maybe you could ask them if they still have this model from FEL (45x17cm).
Can recommend an excellent, very well made case. Look into Northwind cases- they are beautiful and made to last over time. The company is located in Arizona. The maker of the cases is easy to work with. Great product.
All suggestions are welcome.
I’m not sure if the flute fits in this 11x11" Cavallaro. The flute itself is longer than 11".
Actually, I have one of those Cavallaro… for a keyless Olwell. The Bb Lehart seems to fit pretty well:
There seems to be two versions: C-foot / B-foot. For what I’ve read, the one suitable for a wooden flute is the B-foot? Although I don’t know what this *-foot thing means?
True, but spending 15% or so of a flute’s value on good protection (from physical knocks, temperature changes, and humidity fluctuations) seems worth it to me. After years of pistol-casing it, I bought a Northwind case and Altieri case cover with a Humistat humidifier for my flute’s 10th birthday, and I love it. That said, the Early Music Shop cases look nice, too.
They’re referring to the Boehm silver flutes, which may have footjoints going to C, or extended down to B. The cases can be made custom by Northwind (in the U.S.) to fit certain wood flutes - not available from stock at retailers.
The 16x6x3 is 40cm long internally and the padded ‘slots’ are about 3.5 cm wide and deep. Hidden inside all the fabric is a glued plywood box - mine seems fairly sturdy but I wouldn’t stand on it. The dividers within the slots (not between them) are just moveable blocks of expanded polystyrene with fabric loosely glued on - you can cut them down and re-wrap.
