Hah hah hah! Take a look at this monstrosity. It’s like the Frakenstien monster of wind instruments! I made this “Native American inspired” end-blown flute. The only thing is that I didn’t tune it to the recommended G# pentatonic scale—I TUNED IT TO D4 MAJOR instead (I didn’t want to have to learn all new fingerings)! LOL!! THE THING SOUNDS AND PLAYS BEAUTIFULLY. I just wish I was a skilled enough whistler to really make it talk! The thing really has a timbre (albeit in a different key) like a genuine Native American flute! My other observations are that it take a lot of air to play. It’s really hard to hold a whole note or tied notes with more than 4 beats. Hah hah hah! I’ve had to take a breath in mid-note! LOL!

Awesome! That looks really nice!

I think its pretty cool. (I’m sure its alot better than I could do)
Yeah! I like it! The thing is huge! It’s 26-5/16th" long overall and 21-1/4th" from the lip to the end. The more I play around with it the more I like it. It is 2-chambered and the “block” (really a coupler split in half) is held in place by 3 rubber bands! LOL. I’m thinking about replacing the rubber bands with rawhide strips. I might paint the thing in some native american color scheme and put designs on it etc. The only thing is that the D major tuning of it is a little unorthodox for a native american flute! Hah hah hah! Thanks for the compliments.
Oh yeah, you might notice that thanks to the wonderful utility called TWCalc I was able to space my tone holes all at approximagely 1" apart. I had to play around with hole sizes because the default hole sizes left me with some reaches that were nearly a 2" stretch. NO WAY!! Hah hah hah!
Where did you get the plan for that?
If you paint it, try Vinyl Dye (you can get it at an auto store).
It sticks to plastic better than paint.
I see what you mean about the hole sizes. Do any of the notes
sound different or weak because of the smaller holes?

I found a link to the plan on mimf.com (music instrument maker’s forum). Here is the exact link

Well, none of the holes are really all that small. I guess they just look small because of the overall size of the flute. The largest hole was 3/8th and the smallest one was 3/16th.
