And all I can say so far is… wow! ![]()
I can hardly play it but after a couple of minutes things started to change.. lovely.
I did listen to Eskin´s (hi Eskin) clips a year ago or so and thought the Hamilton sounded ok, the M&E ok, but when he (you
) posted the clip of the McGee I felt that I was on to something.
I tried the euro RAF for a week before this summer, liked it a lot but it wasn´t exactly what I was loking for in one flute (another story if I could afford several at this time). I wanted something sligthly more warm and romantic, a little less volume would be no problem. Had a discussion with terry and he thought that I was spot on when I specified my flute for the sound I wanted.
So, here the flute is today after almost 1.5 years of thinking, listening and a little playing.
It´s a keyless R&R refined in boxwood with Terrys Eccentric bore head and two semicircles embouchure. It´s exactly what I was hoping for and I´m very glad today .).
It´s a little lower in volume than the euro RAF, and it´s a little harder to get a clean note, the embouchure is not as “forgiving” as the rounded rectangle embouchure. However to me it´s worth it because the combination of boxwwod and this design makes for a veeeery nice sound IMO.
I´ll try to post a pic and a clip as soon as I can.
