My genius children ...

OK. So Genia (pron. “Jenny”) comes into my office and asks for tape. I give her a roll. She comes back with it and asks for bigger tape. I exchange it for some packing tape and ask what she’s doing. She tells me she’s fixing the kitchen wastebasket so ants can’t get in. A few minutes later, she and her sister Irina come in, proud as punch, and tell me they’ve fixed the wastebasket so ants can’t get in. While they’re standing there telling me, Tania comes in, dismayed, and asks who taped cardboard over the wastebasket. I go in the kitchen and, sure enough, the children (I won’t tell you how old; it’s too embarrassing) have taped cardboard over the wastebasket. They’ve done a very good job. I don’t think the ants will be able to get in. I point out that ants won’t be able to get in, but neither will garbage. They don’t see this as a problem. We can use the wastebasket in the dining room.

Best wishes,
Jerry

P.S. I love the ads at the top of the page. It’s like a cheerleading section for whatever you’re talking about. (Trash bags, anyone? Get them HERE.)

Just received a Shaw D from you and all of the holes and both ends and the window had tape over them .. now I understand ..sure enough .. no ants in the whistle either.

Jim

No ants?!?

The tape on the whistle was to keep the ants from getting OUT!

Best wishes,
Jerry

That reminds me of the time I ordered crickets to feed to my leopard geckos. They came via USPS. The delivery person was pretty perturbed that the shipper had put them in a container with too large of screening and crickets were all over his delivery vehicle!

Renee always buts the boxes in high sided plastic tubs for me to deal with for this very reason.

Can you use the taped-over wastebasket as a percussion instrument?
