Oh dear.

A limerick worthy thread.

Hippocrates, this first in his trade

“The Parting Glass”

Have a dysfunctional electrical car window I won’t have time to fix for a couple of weeks. It won’t stay up. So, I was thinking about using a row of suction cups, attached at the bottom of the window, to hold it up temporarily. The little nubs on the cup, I reason, would keep the window from sliding down.

wow dale. you’re as clever at fixing things as i am. there is no functional fixedness going on in our brains. a wedge might work too. a hardware store might have a good rubber wedge. of you could make one out of a hunk of rubber laying around your house.

Yeah, a wedge makes sense and it’s actually what I’ve done for now. But, instead of using a rubber wedge, I used a big chunk of cardboard. I guess it beats duct tape.

WWMD?

For museum fans, here’s a meta-museum: the Museum of Museums!

Coolest museum I’ve ever visited is the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia.
Not for the faint of heart: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/attract/PAPHImut.html

In regard to the practice of cupping, there’s a Yiddish saying:
“Zolst helfen vi a toyten bankes”, which is used for something which is futile. It literally means" It helps like cupping helps a dead person". As in “You paid $100 for a new miracle diet pill?? Zolst helfen vi a toyten bankes!”

OK, don’t laugh - I have actually thought this, more than once, when trying to fix something around the house or what not. Hey, it works - I’ve always been able to figure something out that works.
