I recently got ahold of a video tape made by a friend of a friend of a friend.
It had much better videos of me and the Houston band playing at the Texas Renaissance Festival than the 15 second slices I got with my digital camera. Even better, they weren’t all of us playing Gravel Walk (heh!), so I pulled off some clips. Let me know what you think! Some of these clips are quite large, so I’ve posted the file sizes.
Opening gate (5.4meg) During the opening gate, we were asked to join 2 other bands to play. This was quite an honor, as there are lots of musical groups out there, but not everyone was asked to join in. About half the people are playing Crested Hens in a 6/8 kind of tempo. The rest of us are just jamming. Admittedly, it’s not very IRTrad ![]()
All the rest of the tunes feature me, our fiddler Jeff, and our bodhranist Lonnette (who also plays with the Scottish Rogues on occasion)
Tunes (25.6meg) Merry Blacksmith-Maid Behind the Bar
Tunes (20.4meg) Blarney Pilgrim-Kesh Jig. I do this “rock star drumstick twirl” thing with the whistle at the end. I must think I’m Ringo Star or something ![]()
Tunes (10.2meg) Crested Hens… Not the slow version.
Fairy (19.5meg) Silver Spear-Glass of Beer. The guy was filming a fairy playing in the dirt, and we can be heard in the background. She seems to enjoy us at least ![]()
