Loren, I noticed that in a thread concerning the Wooden Flute obsession CD that you referred to Niall Keegan as a “total mutant freak”. I wholewheartedly agree with you on that one! However, I think it only fair to warn you that this extends beyond mere flute playing. He is also six foot six and built accordingly. In fact Niall is more like a mountain that happens to play the flute! I suppose you’ll be OK as long as the post doesn’t come to his attention. The thing is I accidently posted it to him, sorry! Maybe we could have some kind of C and F gladiators type thing, you and niall starting of course. Seriously though, he was delighted, I wouldn’t be surprised if your quote ends up on the back of his next CD!
Oh Man, I guess I’m in trouble now! Geeze Brendan, I had no idea Niall was such a big guy, perhaps I should have used a more polite way of describing my admiration for his playing.
Well, at least it will be easy for folks to pick me out on the day of the Gladiator Battles, I’ll be the guy wearing the sign on my back that reads “Will Fight for Flutes”.
Seriously though, I saw an advert for the teaching thing Niall, Brian (Finnegan), and Sarah (Allen) are doing together in Scotland and thought how fabulous that’s going to be. Wish I could go, but neither my playing, nor my finances are up to it this year, so hopefully they’ll repeat it next year. Is anyone here going to attend? I’m sure a number of us would love to hear all about it once it’s done.
In the mean time I’ll have to get a hold of more of Niall’s music when I’m able, I really dig his unique slant on things.
Thanks for getting me in trouble Brendan, I’ll be sure to return the favor some time.

Hi, Brendan. I wanted to thank you again for the OK to use your composition Brendan’s Reel on Sylvain Barou’s track. I have sent you some CDs on Aug. 28 by Global Priority Mail. Jean-Michel Veillon’s just got his (sent on the 24th), so I would expect you to have them soon. BTW, JMV liked the compilation - a lot.
The mutant on my cd cover is no-one in particular but perhaps there"s a little bit of all of us in there as well!
Niall is playing the Dunmore Lasses and my Love is in America.
