Music Site for buying CDs of Artists we hear around town

Hey folks, I’ve come across a really great website called “CelticTurnTable.com”. They have bunched other website’s CDs into one spot to make it easier to find new and existing artists, alot of them are ones found here .
Take a peek!

Wow, they’ve just launched TODAY, and you managed to just come across them already! The internet is Soooo fast!

Yes, wow! But now I’m confused, because the artists I hear around town don’t seem to have CDs on the site. Oh noes! What’s up with that? Apparently they’re either terrible slackers, or ordinary people and friends who just happen to play Irish music. Maybe you should call them up and tell them to get with the program!

Seriously … It looks like a pretty nice site, professionally designed. So why not just put down the sock puppet and tell us a bit about yourself and why we should patronize your shop …

You’d all be much better off going to cdbaby.com and buying New Lit Sky …it’s not Celtic, not even a little …but the artist does have some Celtic ancestry and he’s a good all around guy …and even approaches being a fair whistle player if the listener is working on the back end of a case of Guinness, although you won’t be subjected to that on this cd.

Occasionally, I’m a shameless self-promoter.

k4hx1 isn’t a real person. It has been identified by one of our own as a spambot.

…why does k4hx1 feel the need to dress up in the OP as a punter coming across this new CD site when it seems that s/he is closely linked to same venture …

Honesty would be refreshing, dressing up as a spambot is, well, counterproductive and off-putting.

Hey folks, just to clarify. k4hx1 is not a spambot, but rather a friend of http://www.CelticTurnTable.com. They let me know about the site yesterday, and thought I’d let everyone know about it. They tell me that they wanted to get as much music around celtic music as possible, and be competitively priced with other distributors.

Cheers!

OK, k4hx1, fair enough. If the site owner, Peter Corfield, is interested in providing a service to Chiffboard readers, he should be able to do his own promotion here as well, and tell us a bit about himself. You’re welcome to ask him.

It’s curious that the site seems to be located in Canada (NB), yet the pricing is all in Pounds Sterling.

I’d just add that Philippe Varlet’s Celtic Grooves, based in Washington, DC, also offers a similar service with a wide selection of Celtic books and recordings. Philippe is an established and known musician in the trad community, with a 10-year track record. The Chiffboard has no commercial connection with Celtic Grooves.

We just spoke about this matter this PM and how some might react with GBP pricing. Should prices be in Can$ you think? Their distributors are mainly in Europe, so to keep prices stable they made this decision. On the note about Phil’s site, they are very competitive priced. Alot of his titles run about $2-$3 USD greater after S/H, tax & duty, as well as over email credit card processing disadvantage… I think everybody will agree that my little promo might have been caught, but it is an honest service.

Cheer to everyone!

Keep up the good music we all enjoy!

If the distributors are in Europe, then maybe the currency should be Euros. Maybe we should just buy from Europe, rather than having the CDs go around too many middlemen, shipping and currency conversions.

Loath as I am to push this topic back towards the top:

According to the terms and conditions on the website previously referred to: "Any items purchased on this website will not be delivered to an address outside of Canada. ". So, why have prices in GBP, and shouldn’t promotion be limited to the area of shipment? Total waste of my time here in the U.S.

BTW, are all those items really in stock? Quite a bit of inventory.

Hey!

Celticturntable owner here!

Thanks for all the great comments. I have corrected all these issues as we had not updated the policy since the scope changed. Currency conversion has been enabled and yes we ship anywhere in the world. All items listed on the site are in fact “In Stock” and have been validated with my distributors. Let me know if you have any additional questions, as I am happy to update based on recommendations.

All the Best!
