Can anyone help me locate the music for the
air “an feochan” as played by Altan? Thanks.
I don’t know if any notation can do a slow air justice, especially this one, which is one of my very favorites and was one of the first slow airs I learned to play.
That being said, if you can read ABC, try this (which came from the woodenflute list tune archive).

Thanks, James, for your reply but yikes,
what is this musical(?) language? I can read music notation but can you help me out with
this? Some of it makes sense such as small and capital letters for the low and high octaves but…well…help, please.
Paul
There is a good info page on ABC notation at
http://www.gre.ac.uk/~c.walshaw/abc/
Also, if you don’t actually want to learn it, there are programs that will “translate” for you. I like ABC2Win, which is available from
It is a really good program, well worth registering, though it will do what you want in shareware mode.
I hope this helps!
