Music and the Brain

Michael DeLalla, a guitarist and composer (see http://www.fallingmountain.com/delalla.html), held a small tune writing workshop at my place a couple of years ago. If I remember correctly, he said he associates colors with music, in the sense that he “sees” color when he hears music.

It’s not an unknown phenomenon but I’ll have to ask him about that.

Many people have more or less arbitrary associations between colors and other things, such as days of the week. But people who really experiences non drug induced synesthesia are rare. A physician by the name of Cytowic appears to be the major authority. Interesting stuff.
