i just wanted to let the two of you know that my Susatos and i are speaking to each other finally. i’ve a long way to go, but i now know what the Susato wants from me (pardon me for personifying the whistle) to get good clean tone in the second octave above g. the high a and high b are there everytime now.
i’ve also learned that the (or at least my) Susato Kildare Small bore high D really… REALLY… plays a gorgeous high b if it is fingered xoo/oxx. it also produces a great high b when the e xxx/xxo is overblown to the harmonic.
