So my chanter-to-regulator conversion seems to be working alright, but in its prototype stage the “keys” (made from Altoid boxes; I said it was a prototype, OKAY?!) are being held on only with rubber bands.
How can I mount my new improved brass keys when there are no mounts built onto the thing?
Just a thought but have you seen the Taylor sets? The keys are mounted in an unconventional way.

You need to attach them with hose clamps.
Some Taylor regs have the keys mounted to metal strips clamped to the outside of the regs. You would use these to mount a pin to pvot the keys on. No need for mounts directly on the reg surface. If you really want to get fancy, you could use the type of key posts employed on other instruments like flutes, clarinets, etc.
