Sorry you didn’t like the LoTR film, but do read the books, starting with the Hobbit. Much less blood & guts (or hack ‘n’ slash), much more character motivation and development (of the hobbits at least). I bet you can’t read them without shedding a tear.
I know some of us Tolkein & whistle fans have been marginally disappointed, but I’ll still be going out to buy the boxed DVD set when it’s available, tho’ I might give the “Gandalf break-dance floormat & CD” set a miss.
