More really stupid marketing slogans....

“If your litter can’t change color, change your litter”

Yyyyyyyyyyyeah… I have noticed that the clumps are pretty clumpy, so I really don’t need them to turn blue so I know they’re clumpy, do I? If the litter is clumpy, it’s time to clean the litter… if the litter changes color, it’s definintely time to change the litter … to another brand!

This isn’t a marketing slogan, but it is stupid!
I just bought a vacuum cleaner which came with an instruction booklet. In the warnings section, it said (among other things):
“Keep away from dust and lint.”
It’s a VACUUM CLEANER! It’s for sucking up the dust and lint!

Well, if we can slightly derail Annie’s thread into “Stupid Warnings…”

I worked in a kitchen once that had a little plaque on the doors of the convection oven that said “Caution: Hot.”

Um, yeah.

Tom

I wish I had saved a package with microwaving instructions that ended with ‘Caution, contents will be hot when heated!’

Everytime I see inane or stupidly obvious product warnsings like these, I try to imagine the lawsuit that brought them about.

There’s something about litter, call it an air, that tells you when it needs changed.

We got our new Corporate Brochure this week. My favourite quotation, under the photo of some marketing bod, was

“PROCESSES MUST BE PEOPLE-LED”

ah! It all becomes clear to me now! :moreevil:

How about this suggestive marketing slogan: “Drink Canada Dry”

Many have tried. I have the kidneys to prove it. :astonished:

djm

I have to admit that I’ve never thought of it like that!

I always thought “Feeling Seven Up” was sort of ill-advised.

T

Power wrists.

A few years ago, my grandmother sent an email to her sister and got an automatic reply from the server. Something to the effect of: “This email contains bad language and the recipient may be offended.”

Are you thinking of Seven of Nine in Star Trek?

If that’s the case wouldn’t “Make Seven Up Yours” sound a little disturbing?

Wow, their current slogan is even more ill-advised, isn’t it. The scary thing is, somebody got paid alot of money for coming up with that.

Tom

I think it falls under “if there’s no market, create one”, a subset of which entails creative ways of grasping at straws, it looks like.

Someone tell me if this is a stupid/Dadaist/whatever marketing slogan: at the corner of my block is a wee little sign for a yard sale that reads, “QUIESCENT RUMMAGE!!”, with day and address. I’m not kidding.

WTF. Please help.

Near my home, on a stretch of winding coastal road beside cliffs, some thoughtful authority place the sign: CAUTION: FALLING BOULDERS NEXT 20 KM.

The ones to really be careful of are the ones you don’t see till they hit you.

My favorite unfortunate misuse of “hipsterism” in advertising:
McDonalds ran an Internet banner ad of a young, African-American
man dreaming of a burger, and saying “Double Cheeseburger? I’d Hit It”!
Of course, a quick Google search would have revealed that such a slogan
would make people think the young man wished to get “intimate” with the
sandwich.
