More on WOOD

I thought I’d share a story with everybody. I picked up a LOVELY chunk of tambootie last night…well seasoned. I had never turned it before, and this was such a lovely looking piece I thought I’d give it a try. I’ve been told that it’s quite “fragrant” and that it’s used as an ingredient in perfumes. Well…I learned after about 10 seconds that yes indeed it is quite fragrant…very pleasant…so are MOST perfumes..until you SPRAY THEM IN YOUR MOUTH AND EYES.. :boggle: :astonished:

Egads, I must’ve coughed from that wood dust for 20 minutes…every drink of water I took tasted like perfume!

HOWEVER, I did manage to finish the piece as a hollow mainstock. It looks like figured cocobolo that has been melted with figured and fumed boxwood…! I’ll post a pic later…After THAT ordeal..I need a pint :pint:

Yeah, don’t make me come over there and hafta’
administer CPR!!

Yeah yeah, I know I should be ashamed of myself!
I only have myself to blame…BUT I actually had a respirator mask on plus overalls goggles, hat..gloves…

Don’t worry Kevin..rap away..no offense taken, I know the spirit in which you are gleefully punishing me!

I posted a pic of the stock on my webpage..be patient..it’s a new camera and the resolution was too high..then again, it IS a lovely picture!

I agree. All kidding aside, my goal is to set up a nice dust collection system, but I am currently working on a shoestring budget…

Yep, I was rather smitten by the combination/contrast of that particular piece of wood…

I have a large barrel shop vac I was thinking of adapting to this purpose…I’ll give it the ol’ college try and let you know how I get on!
