Queen of the Rushes is a standard piping tune (Tommy Reck, Planxty, in G : Maire Ni). Flute-wise it has associations with the playing of Eddie Moloney, no doubt Rafferty’s connection to it.

Thanks, Peter. That’s exactly the kind of input I was looking for. I had a feeling the CD notes were wrong, but am poor at identifying correct tune names. Rafferty’s connection was through the Ballinakill Céilí Band. Anyway, its a great tune for pipes.

Thx,

djm

It’s among my many favorites.

And Eddie Moloney (and several generations of Moloneys over time) was fluteplayer with the Ballinakil.

Peter, do you by any chance have any recordings of Eddie Moloney that I might be able to steal from you? I’ll gladly provide you with a blank cassette or CD if you would like.

I have some but they could be the same ones that are on the flutegeezer website.

Are you talking about the C&F Flute Forum? If not, I’ll take 'em. If so, could you point my nose in the right direction? Thanks.
