Moisture treatment for Clarke?

Hey y’all.
Is the popular “soapy business card” treatment OK for a Clarke whistle with a wood-block type fipple? Also, does it make the whistle taste soapy?

I’ve had problems clogging all sorts of whistles, but never my Clarke. The windway is large enough to…errr…nevermind, anyway, the windway is large and the fipple block absorbs moisture, so I wouldn’t think that it would be a problem. I’v never played min longer than about 20 minutes at a stretch (I switch whistles about every 2-3 songs). I have a very, for lack of a better word, “functional” scotch tape seal over the plug. This serves two purposes…one, it seals the edges of the block (I was losing TONS of air through the leak) and two, it made the block feel nice to the lip. It also has the added bonus of blocking moisture from your lips to the wood. I have to admit that it looks like poop, but it plays great.

I think I’m gonna try and put a synthetic plug in my Clarke.

Sorry, I doubt this was any help to you, but it was worth a shot!

Adios,
Eric
