Reward offered for return of uileann pipes
A substantial reward has been offered for the safe return of a set of uileann pipes which went missing in Tralee this week. Leading piper Eoin Duignan is offering 500 euro for their return. Mr Duignan has had the pipes for 38 years and says they are of little value to anyone else. He says they are a unique set of pipes

That bass drone resonator is fairly distinctive. Not many that colour.
Would it be a good idea to have a separate forum for images of lost or stolen instruments (not just pipes but flutes and whistles too)? That way, when stuff comes up on eBay or elsewhere online people can check it out.
There was a little piece on this in the Irish Times. With the appeal for the return of the pipes it was revealed how they disappeared: he left them sitting o nthe pavement at night and drove off. Returning (d’oh!) after a while they were no loger there.
Finbar McLoughlin told me once how he left his pipes in a carpark in Derry after a gig during the troubles. They were still there the next day. Nobody dared touch them for fear of loosing an arm and a leg.
Word has got to Eoin that his pipes have been found ,trouble is they were found by some members of the travelling community and they are not willing to part with them until some negotiations have taken place regarding the reward !! IT,S A HOSTAGE SITUATION !!
