Hi
Some advance warning that I will be putting my wonderful Michael Grinter 8 keyed Blackwood Rudall flute on sale on ebay this Thursday for 10 days.

Hi
I have been asked where i am from and
why I am selling it.
I’m from Bristol England and in these cash strapped times I am raising money for a bass (my main instrument)
I have owned various flues before and love the tone of this one so am aiming to get another Grinter, keyless, to replace it.
Thanks to the person who emailed me.I’ve changed my preference to private messages now as, having recently got scam mail, I’d prefer to communicate via the forum.I hope that’s ok.

Hi
I’ve had another reply asking me what I want for the flute.
I bought it new for 3400 euros, 3 years ago which at 0.85 pounds to the euro is 2890 pounds.
It has been played but kept in it’s box and is in full working order with a great tone and unblemished wood and plays well.I’ve been blown away by what a good player can do with it but even I can get a beautiful characteristic and resonant tone and typically Grinter, it works on many levels. It has been regularly oiled and there is a slight resultant patina but just on the areas where cleaning it off might disrupt things such as the holes for the 7th and 8th keys so rather than disrupt the quite delicate mechanism I’ve cleaned the rest of it but left it well alone there. It’s otherwise shiny and beautiful with some lovely subtleties to the grain in places.
There is a waiting list for these things and, although there is no price list online, I can’t imagine the price has gone down.
It’s worth what somebody will pay for it and it’s instantly available. As the ebay auction is not live yet, I can’t say I’m not open to offers and could delay the auction.
I’m a bit of a newcomer to the site so apologies if this answer breaks any rules.
Thanks
Ian
Hi - just for clarity - on a second look, I think I’ve exaggerated about the natural patina on the keys - after a gentle wipe it’s superb as you’ll be able to see on ebay photos tomorrow.
Best wishes
Ian
Hi all - thanks for your messages etc. re this flute.
My initial intention was to inform you of an ebay auction but as it’s turned out I have found a buyer for my flute via this forum, agreed a price we are both happy with and secured a deposit. Assuming things go according to plan I will now not be putting it on ebay after all.
Apologies to those hoping to bid and thanks for your interest.
Best wishes and happy fluting
Ian
