There is NOTHING I like about Martha Stewart but her conviction is a crock. There. I said it. Guess she’ll go to Lompoc and play tennis or sumthin.
Now, if you could send people to jail for being a mean-ass controlling rhymes-with-witch, I could see it. But I don’t think that’s technically against the law.
My “fondest” memory of MS was her Christmas show, years ago. I was up wrapping presents and she was making gingerbread houses. The whole thing was being held up to dry (the sugar glue joints) by this scared little kid who she identified as one of the neighbor’s children. She muttered something about “how you can’t always find a helper for tasks like this.” I bet. I was roflmaoinging.
Ditto. And in the grand American tradition to keep kicking someone when she’s down, we’ll hear a lot about it.
But remember when somebody thought it’d be a good idea to have what’s-her-name from Saturday Night Live impersonate Martha during her Christmas show (so there were 2 Marthas)? You could tell them apart easily just by the intensity of the hate emanating from the real Martha.

I don’t know, Weeks. A jury hears all the evidence and unanimously agrees that that is what she’s guilty of. Obstruction of justice and perjury. Weeks, I assume you’ll contact her attorneys and send in the missing gem of info you hold before the appeal is heard.
Have a look at her statements on her web site today. First:
“Dear Friends: I am obviously distressed by the jury’s verdict but I take comfort in knowing that I have done nothing wrong and that I have the enduring support of my family and friends.”
A few minutes later, an amended statement was posted, in which her claim of innocence was deleted. “I am obviously distressed by the jury’s verdict but I continue to take comfort in knowing that I have the confidence and enduring support of my family and friends,” it read.
I have to disagree with you as well, Weeks. The securities fraud charge was a crock and was dropped. There seemed little doubt she lied to authorities, however, which was her undoing. It’ll be interesting to see where MSO opens Monday AM.

Guess what, folks. SHE BROKE THE LAW!!! Now, I have spent the day arguing with various folks and hearing every crock of crap there is about:
They’re scapegoating her;
It’s all because the male establishment can’t stand a successful woman;
3, XYZ did something even worse and got off easier.
4, assorted other garbage, ad nauseam.
NONE of it is relevant. The only relevant question is “DID SHE DO IT?” A jury of her peers (though I think she probably thinks of them as ‘the little people’) says she DID! If she did it, then what happened to others isn’t relevant. She should put in her time a Club Fed, and perhaps keep in mind that there are millions of Americans and billions of others who’d envy the degree of comfort she is forced to endure in her captivity.
IMHO, she brought it on herself. She, a billionaire, chose to cheat over what to her would have been chump change. Like the right wing’s favorite excuse, if she’d simply fessed up at first, she could have paid a (to her, anyway) little fine and all would be forgiven. She chose to lie, conspire and whatever else she was convicted of. More to the point, SHE chose to hire an expensive mouthpiece and make it into a three ring circus, presumably out of overweening arrogance. She now gets to live with her choices.
The irony of this is that the insider trading that triggered off the whole thing was so pointless. InClone stock is right back up there after the feds approved a new drug.

Which folks? I speak only for myself. Presidents, are fair
game for comment, I figure, including BC. None of them gets to be
a sacred cow. Let me suggest that people
refrain from getting personal when BC is mentioned critically.
I haven’t followed the Martha Stewart trial very closely,
but it seems to me you’ve rather hit the nail on the head.
