I love the haunting sound of this (on Joanie Madden’s 1st album). I’m afraid I like little black dots :-/. I’ve checked the tunes archives and the C&F archives and can’t find the music. I don’t have O’Neill’s – is it in that? Does anyone know of another source?

I´m afraid you will not find them anywhere, they are definitely not in the O´Neills Collection…as I learned to play that air by ear maybe I can find the time to write it down for you, but we are going on a two weeks holiday tomorrow, so it might be afterwards. It´s my one and favorite air though, it is really georgeous !!!

I blush to confess I don’t have the Joannie Madden CD, but I can tell you that Marcus Hernon is a contemporary flute player and composer from Co. Galway and therefore if the tune is actually his and not just (re)named after him it wouldn’t be in O’Neill’s.
Marcus Hernon is also the brother of P. J. Hernon, who taught B/C button box at Gaelic Roots the summer my wife went.

It has a couple of lovely slow airs on it, “The Invisible Corncrake” and (especially) “The Lonely Bittern.”
