This is the first story I’ve read about someone getting a painful electric shock at Chuck E. Cheez, and to my surprise it doesn’t involve any animatronic robots.
The police said the man was lucky. (gosh he should thank them). If it had been a seafood bar, they would have been obligated to use tactical warheads on him.

In Denver I did related stuff with Chicanos,
who were delightful. They were like Cheech.
They would turn to me in the middle of the
day and say: ‘Hey guy, I’m tripping. Can you tell?’
Drugs aside, they had a culture that enabled
us to work together and have fun.
They never minded that I was super-educated,
thought I was a trip.
The difference between people who can make
drudgery fun somehow, and people who like
to play vicious practical jokes.
It’s so hard to really tell what went on if you didn’t see it. We’re reading a journalist’s account based on what a bunch of people told them.
If the guy was being combative then it may have been necessary. However I have heard of too many incidents where police have used tasers on anyone who disagrees with them. I believe the use of a taser should be as regulated as a gun.
I saw, on my favorite show, “Maximum Exposure”, on Spike, a scene at a Taco Bell. The girl in drive through gave a cop his meal and change. He claimed he gave her a 20 and she gave him change for a 10. She double checked and he had NOT given her a 20. The manager came in and said there were no 20’s in the drawer.
The cop came in the store, to the drive through area and began screaming and threatening the girl, ordering her to give him his change. She refused while the cowardly manager ran away somewhere.
Then the cop tried to arrest her. She refused because she hadn’t done anything wrong. So he sprayed her with mace. Not a little but a lot. For at least 10 seconds.
We all agreed that if that had been one of our family members he’d have been an ex-cop, ex-living human being.
She got a $60,000 settlement out of it but the gestapo agent was exonerated by his department.
It seemed to us that this cop was guilty of attempted robbery, assault and battery. If I had been the manager, I would have given him the 10 dollars but warned him that if the drawer came up short I would prosecute him for above crime.
